For 5 years, my freelance work had me creating layouts for West Coast Winds magazines. The request initially started with layouts. However, it quickly escalated to multiple jobs, even in the first year. These included layouts, ad creation, editing the articles, copyright checks, cataloguing, and file storage. I even ended up doing a lot of IT work for them as well, creating systems to receive assets from her clients and creating online displays for her to link potential clients to.

For the first year, I mainly just used the original files and ads that they had acquired from previous issues, with a few exceptions. However, by the next year, the amount of ads I had created easily turned magazine jobs into the largest jobs I have handled.

As mentioned above, ad creation was a large part of the job. Displayed below are many of the ads I have created for this magazine over the years. The owner of West Coast Winds had specifics she needed, but her clients advertising in the magazine would often make many requests for their advertisements.
